Moodboard Monday: Oreo

The colour of oreo biscuits is not quite black, not quite brown, and in some light has an almost purplish cast.

It’s a solid, dense taupe made from a base of steely grey or charcoal, with a drop or two of pure red or violet.

Be careful not to confuse this colour with Dark Winter’s many plum or carmine burgundies.

By comparison, oreo is cooler, flatter and won’t appear as rich.

And despite its name, oreo isn’t a particularly edible colour.

True Winter is too otherwordly for that.

It’s more likely you’ll find this colour in the pre-dawn sky or some interesting minerals.
